Tricentennial Tree Planting

Tricentennial Tree Day is a community tree planting day on October 5, 2013, when residents can plant pre-purchased trees, with advice from resident tree experts. A selection of trees will be sold by the Haddonfield Shade Tree Commission throughout the spring and summer, beginning on our Earth Day Celebration, April 27th to be made available on October 5 (raindate: October 6).

Haddonfield Friends of the Library Book Sale

The Haddonfield Friends of the Library will hold their annual two-day Book Sale, one of the largest used book sales in South Jersey, on Saturday, September 21st, from 10 AM – 4 PM and Sunday, September 22nd 12 PM – 4 PM. Items for sale will include an estimated 30,000 hardbacks and trade paperbacks, pocket paperbacks, cookbooks, children’s books, audio books, movies and music.

Hadrosaurus Foulkii (Haddy) Lecture

Ned S Gilmore, Collection Manager, The Academy of Natural Science of Drexel University, Butch Brees, Hatch Committee Chairperson, and John Giannotti, Sculptor will share aspects of their expertise regarding Haddonfield’s own Haddy (Hadrosaurus Foulkii) Dinosaur .

The combined lecture will cover all aspects of the discovery, the dinosaur site, the visitors and the development of the sculpture.

Artistic Impressions of Haddonfield: A Tricentennial Celebration

Markeim Arts Center is pleased to present Artistic Impressions of Haddonfield: A Tricentennial Celebration for the South Jersey and surrounding area’s community of artists and patrons. The exhibition will run from August 17 – September 28, 2013

The exhibition is about celebrating the people, places, commerce and sense of community that have made Haddonfield over the last 300 years. Themes of artwork that may be included and/or used to inspire you: Haddonfield moments, historic places, sacred spaces, hangouts, Haddonfield in action, the native people, the settlers, defining local natural and human events, or prominent people who have made significant contributions to the town and culture.

Staged Reading of The King’s Road

The first staged reading of The King’s Road will take place on Aug 10 at 11am will be a media event inside the Indian King Tavern. During the performance we will have display boards showcasing the history of the show and the people who have contributed to its enduring appeal.

Haddonfield Crafts and Fine Arts Festival

The two-day outdoor festival garners national attention and attracts crowds of more than 100,000 people. Artisans will exhibit a wide range of arts and crafts, including ceramics, glass, jewelry, wood, fiber, metal, paper, drawings, paintings, photography, and wearable art. You can appreciate three centuries of local history as many crafters utilize methods more than 300 years old, like pottery, watercolor, crochet, woodworking, and basket weaving.
