Book Launch Reception at Greenfield Hall

Historical Society of Haddonfield will host a Book Launch Reception at Greenfield Hall (343 Kings Hwy East) on Sunday Dec 8, from 1pm to 3pm. Author Jeffery Dorwart will be present to inscribe each copy and answer questions. Admission is free and the beautifully bound hardcover books are only $25 – a perfect gift for the holidays and a wonderful addition to every library collection. Refreshments will be available, so please help us celebrate this proud achievement and mark this moment in Haddonfield history.

Haddonfield Quilts

Celebrate the Haddonfield Tricentennial at the Haddonfield Public Library with a display of local Haddonfield Quilts. The Friends of the Library and The Little Shop will be hosting a display of Haddonfield Quilts on Saturday October 19th at 11AM – 4PM. The quilts will be a unique collection of borrowed quilts of all ages, styles and sizes.

Hadrosaurus Foulkii (Haddy) Lecture

Ned S Gilmore, Collection Manager, The Academy of Natural Science of Drexel University, Butch Brees, Hatch Committee Chairperson, and John Giannotti, Sculptor will share aspects of their expertise regarding Haddonfield’s own Haddy (Hadrosaurus Foulkii) Dinosaur .

The combined lecture will cover all aspects of the discovery, the dinosaur site, the visitors and the development of the sculpture.

June 1, 2013

Encampment and Skirmish

Starting at 10 a.m. on June 1, the Continental Army will occupy the Historical Society of Haddonfield building at 343 Kings Hwy East, while the British encamp at the Indian King Tavern at 233 Kings Highway East.

Around 1 p.m. the New Jersey Volunteers will march down Kings Highway and encounter a large division of the British Army. The skirmish should take about 30 minutes, so don’t be late.

Historical Society of Haddonfield’s Annual Candlelight Dinner: “A Tale of Two Elizabeths”

The Annual Candlelight Dinner is Wednesday March 27th at Tavistock Country Club. This year’s program will feature guest speaker Jeffery Dorwart, a professor Emeritus and former chair of History department at Rutgers University in Camden who will answer the question “How well do we really know Elizabeth Haddon Estaugh?”

Service for Worship

The first official event of Haddonfield’s Tricentennial is a solemn service at Haddonfield Friends Meeting. Quakers will give a brief introduction to their history and beliefs, then lead a shortened “Meeting for Worship”, followed by a reception and reproduction period clothing presented by the Historical Society of Haddonfield. All are welcome.
