Book Launch Reception at Greenfield Hall

Historical Society of Haddonfield will host a Book Launch Reception at Greenfield Hall (343 Kings Hwy East) on Sunday Dec 8, from 1pm to 3pm. Author Jeffery Dorwart will be present to inscribe each copy and answer questions. Admission is free and the beautifully bound hardcover books are only $25 – a perfect gift for the holidays and a wonderful addition to every library collection. Refreshments will be available, so please help us celebrate this proud achievement and mark this moment in Haddonfield history.

CROP WALK

Help celebrate Haddonfield’s Tricentennial with a 3.1 mile walk through historical Haddonfield while supporting hungry and displaced people. The Haddonfield Council of Churches’ annual CROP WALK will be held on Sunday, October 27th at 2:00 pm leaving from Kings Court. In honor of Haddonfield’s Tricentennial, this year the route will pass 16 historical sites.

Open House featuring Timothy Matlack

The doors of the Indian King Tavern will be open to the public for tours.  The 2pm program will feature first-person interpreter Timothy Matlack, who was born in Haddonfield and, among many accomplishments, penned the official version of the Declaration of Independence.  Admission is free but seating for the program is limited.

A Tricentennial Salute

Featuring music by the Haddonfield Community Philharmonic and Marching Band Society, awards for student achievement, presentation of elementary school time capsules, and recognition of Tricentennial volunteers.

Haddonfield Quilts

Celebrate the Haddonfield Tricentennial at the Haddonfield Public Library with a display of local Haddonfield Quilts. The Friends of the Library and The Little Shop will be hosting a display of Haddonfield Quilts on Saturday October 19th at 11AM – 4PM. The quilts will be a unique collection of borrowed quilts of all ages, styles and sizes.

The Tricentennial Festival

Haddonfield’s time-honored Fall Festival – recently dubbed the Tricentennial festival – will take place on Saturday, October 19 from 10am to 5pm in the Borough’s retail district.  Local charitable organizations, civic groups, clubs, food vendors, residents and visitors will converge along Kings Hwy between Haddon Ave and Chestnut Street.

Merchandise displays, live entertainment, and craft tables will enhance the festive atmosphere.  Carriage rides will make the experience complete for all who attend.  Rain: Sun Oct 20, 12n to 5pm.

Holman Enterprises has been named Presenting Sponsor of the Tricentennial Festival in recognition of their significant contribution to the Tricentennial Committee.

A Tricentennial Salute will take place in Kings Court at 12pm.  All are welcome.

Local Author Speaks to DAR

Christie Castorino, the 14 year-old author of Heroines of Haddonfield will speak at the Haddonfield Chapter DAR meeting on October 9th at 7 p.m. The meeting is open to the public and will take place at the Conservatory at Springdale Farm.

The King’s Road

Written in 1963 by Haddonfield’s own Harry T. Kaufmann,The King’s Road follows the lives of Mary Hopkins, Joshua Cresson, Jonas Cattell and others as they discover patriotism, strengthen their faith and fall in love amidst the intrusion of the British and Hessian armies. With beautiful melodies like “Wonderland”, “Friendship Fire Company No. 1” and the spirited anthem “This is the Land Where Freedom Dwells”, The King’s Road is filled with singing, dancing, marching and merriment.
